HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – A community awareness event focusing on mental health and the risk factors of suicide will be May 12, 2012, 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Galleria Conference Center.  The public is invited to attend this free event which will include a program and exhibits focusing on the family and risk factors of suicide. 

 

Topics include:

·         relationships

·         depression

·         bullying

·         alcohol and drugs

·         medical illness.

 

This free event is hosted by the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Central Georgia (SPCCG).  Its mission is to provide education, resources, and support for individuals at risk of suicide, survivors of suicide, and their families.  This coalition is a partnership between several organizations in Houston, Peach and Crawford Counties.  Participants include: American Foundation for Suicidal Prevention, Crawford County Sherriff’s Office,

Fort Valley State University, Houston County Board of Education, Houston County Drug Action Counsel, Houston Healthcare, National Alliance on Mental Illness of Central Georgia, New Hope International Church, Peach County Board of Education, Phoenix Center Behavioral Health Services, Robins Air Force Base and Warner Robins Police Department.
