A Robins unit has been recognized for excellence by the Air Force.
Robins Air Force Base, GA. The 5th Combat Communications Group is the winner
of the service’s 2012 information dominance award for large units. The
annual award is given to teams and units who best conduct information
dominance and cyberspace operations in support of Air Force and Department
of Defense operations.
Col. William Waynick, 5th CCG commander, said the award is a validation of
the hard work and sacrifices his Airmen and their families put forth over
the past year.
Some of the 5th CCG's accomplishments during the award period include having
the last cyber Airmen "boots on the ground" during the end of Operation
Iraqi Freedom, providing cyber support to more than 3,000 International
Security Assistance Force personnel, and establishing an Operation Enduring
Freedom command and control radio net.
