Children of Robins Air Force Base General to visit

Children of Robins Air Force Base General to visit

The children of Gen. Augustine Warner Robins will be in town Monday to see the base and community named after their grandfather.

Gen. Charles E. Thomas urged local town leaders to rename the town after his former aide, who had worked for him between 1921 and 1927.

Thomas renamed the depot Warner Robins Army Air Depot and the base runway Robins Field. Local leaders immediately changed the name to Robins Air Force Base.

MGSC designated as Yellow Ribbon School

MGSC designated as Yellow Ribbon School

Middle Georgia State College announced Monday they had sought and been granted designation as a Yellow Ribbon School for the 2014-15 academic year.  Granted by the Department of Veterans, the designation means MGSC can waive out-of-state tuition for veterans who are not legal residents of Georgia for the purpose of in-state tuition.  The Yellow Ribbbon  program allows public institutions of higher learning (degree-granting institutions) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with VA to help with tuition expenses that exceed the resident tuition and fees.

More information can be found by clicking here.  Veterans interested in finding out if the qualify can contact Tina Decheske, tina.decheske@mga.edu, or call 478-757-2681.
