Funeral Held for Former Tuskegee Airman

 

DENVER (9News) - A funeral service will be held on Monday for Colonel Fitzroy Newsum, a former Tuskegee Airman who was well known for his passion for flying and community involvement. He was 94 years old.

The service begins at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 2201 Dexter Street in the Park Hill neighborhood.

A luncheon reception follows at 11:30, and the burial will be at 2:15 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery with full military honors provided by Buckley AFB personnel. Newsum passed away on Jan. 5.

Patricia Emore

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Ann Emore, 67, of Cochran who died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at her residence will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2012 in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, GA.

Patricia was born in Jeff Davis County, the daughter of the late Willie Peacock and Ophelia Selph Peacock. She had lived in Cochran for the past 40 years. She was retired from Robins A.F.B. and a member of New Life Church of God.

Charles R. Cook

 

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Ronald Cook, 78, of Macon who died Friday, October 12, 2012 at his residence will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Waldren officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran

Mr. Cook was born in Columbus, the son of the late Charles W. Cook and Barbara Beatrice Martin Cook. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a former teacher at Columbus Middle School where he was a coach and a principal and a teacher at South Georgia College. He was retired from the Department of Corrections as a counselor.

He was of the Baptist faith and an avid Bulldog fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Blue Cook.

MSgt. Glenn McGee, USAF (Ret.)

Glenn McGee, 79, entered into rest on Saturday, October 6, 2012.

Mr. McGee was born on March 3, 1933 in Gainesville, Georgia. He retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant having served in the Korean conflict. He then, after working for several years, retired from the Perry Hospital. As a longtime member of Central Baptist Church, he served as deacon and was very active in the Singles ministry, most recently with the New Beginnings Sunday School Class.

Ronald Dean Carbon, USAF (Ret)

Ronald Dean Carbon, 57, entered into rest on Thursday, September 27, 2012.

Ronald was born on October 23, 1954 in Newton, Kansas. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Colonel Carbon proudly retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-one years of dedicated service to his country. Subsequent to his military career, he served as director of the 21st Century Partnership during the 2005 BRAC.

CW2 George Averitt Finley, US Army (Ret)

George Averitt Finley, 75, entered into rest on Thursday, September 27, 2012.

George was born on December 24, 1936 in Cadiz, Kentucky to the late John A. Finley and Mallie Atkins Finley. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Army obtaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer before retiring. He later retired as Director of Information Management at Fort Sam Houston. In George's spare time, he loved golfing, landscaping, and traveling.
