Clare Lillian Lawler Premo 1923-2012

Clare Lillian Lawler Premo, 88, of Warner Robins, GA died April 8, 2012 after a long and wonderful life.

Clare was born August 9, 1923 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, to Hector James Lawler and Queenie Mildred Ansell Lawler. A young secretary during World War II, she met Harold Premo, an American pilot in Townsville, Australia. They were married in 1945, and started a family in Australia. In 1946 she boarded a ship with hundreds of other war brides, leaving her family and homeland for life in America. She moved from the tropics of Australia to Minneapolis, El Paso, Sacramento, Charleston, Honolulu, and finally settled in Warner Robins in 1965. Clare was an eternal optimist with a great sense of humor. She was a strong and independent woman, loving wife, doting mother and grandmother, excellent bridge player, active officer's wife and avid reader. She was always cheerful and grateful for the full life she lived.

Clare is survived by six sons, Harold Leonard, Jr. and Peggy (Athens), Gregory and Anne (Bristow, VA), Stephen (Alexandria, VA), Christopher and Sherry (Citrus Heights, CA), David and Lisa (Charlotte, NC), and Randall and Monica (Bonaire); son-in-law Al Grover (Charlotte); twelve grandchildren, Jason Premo (Kelly), Rebecca Premo (Timothy), Aeron Premo, Thomas Grover, Stephanie Hough (Brad), Rachael Knorr (Dave), Tristen Premo (Joy), Katie, Seth, Cameron, Spencer and Grant; and eight great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Jameson, Anna, Sophia, Braden, Vera, Marin, and Adelynn; and sister Margaret Lawler Allingham (Alan), Mackay, Queensland, Australia. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Harold, her only daughter, Ann Marie Premo Grover, and parents Hector and Queenie Lawler.

A Scripture Service will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in Andersonville National Cemetery.
