Robins Air Force Base Exchange Celebrates Grand Re-Opening
News

The shopping mall of Robins Air Force Base, otherwise known as the Base Exchange, will celebrate its grand re-opening Thursday.

Work began on the stores and restaurants last May and is now complete, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Renovations included face-lifts to existing stores and a few new restaurants for diners.

Crews added new flooring, décor and improved the overall atmosphere of the base shopper's experience.

Store Manager Anthony Ventura said it's designed to give the exchange a more modern feel and encourage folks to spend money on base, instead of at off base retailers.

Shopper Andy Renteria said he noticed the changes right away.

He said, "It's definitely a lot more options. It's more open space over here. So, I noticed it's definitely different in a good way."

The Base Exchange offers competitive pricing and no sales tax.

People with a valid base ID are eligable to shop there. Click here for a full list of valid patrons.

Ventura says two-thirds of the money spent at the exchange goes to the Robins morale, welfare and recreation fund.

That money pays for the bowling alley, golf course and programs like arts and crafts on base.
