Welcoming 2013: Making the Most of the New Year

Welcoming 2013: Making the Most of the New Year

Today is my first day in the office for 2013. I intentionally took time off over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays to step back from work, enjoy my family and clear my head. Now I’m back and ready to hit the ground running! How about you?

In the past I’ve never been much of a believer in writing down my goals or making them for that matter. It all seemed a little woo-woo and out there. However in 2012 I worked with a wonderful organizer and business coach Paris Love (www.parisloveinstitute.com) who convinced me of the importance of setting goals.

Getting Ready for the Holiday Season

Getting Ready for the Holiday Season

It always seems as if the holidays always sneak up on us. After all, Thanksgiving is just 2 weeks away! So whether you are getting ready to host 35 people for a Thanksgiving dinner or if you are preparing for the celebrations of Hanukkah or Christmas, you can get ready early and simplify your work and enjoy the holidays so much more.

Planning

As we get ready for the holidays, let’s take a minute to remember why we celebrate this time of the year. It’s not about gifts, parties and obligations. It’s a time to give thanks for our many blessings, to celebrate the wonderful miracles of Christmas, Hanukah; Kwanzaa; to celebrate the coming of a brand New Year full of possibilities. Try to keep this in your heart and mind this season to keep things in perspective.

Keeping Your Digital Pictures Safe

Keeping Your Digital Pictures Safe

Last week I was touching base with a client to see how her summer was going and she had a horror story to tell me. During a quick 20-minute trip to take her daughter to camp, their home was broken into. Among the things the thieves took was their computer. The most precious and heartwrenching loss of all was the loss of their pictures and videos from the last 4-5 months that had not yet been backed up. Those can never be retrieved or recreated.

What can you do to preserve your precious memories, specifically those digital pictures? A couple of quick and easy steps can ease your mind and I advocate multiple backup systems. You can never be too careful with your pictures.

Two Minute Task Round Up #1

Two Minute Task Round Up #1

If a task will take you two minutes or less, do it now. Here are a few things you can do in two minutes or less!

  • Make your bed. It will keep your sheets cleaner and your room neater.
  • Pay a bill.
  • Empty the dishwasher.
  • Clean out 2 file folders. Shred or toss what you don't need to keep.
  • Shred papers from your shredding pile.
  • Sort your mail.
  • Grab your laundry basket and gather everything that doesn’t belong in the living room. Return it to its proper room.

Because February is the shortest month of the year, we are talking about small things, small projects and small spaces in your home.
