Aviation Week Award Lauds WR-ALC for Excellence

The innovation and hard work that spurred a renaissance in aircraft production has earned the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex another major award.

The complex was honored with the 2013 Aviation Week Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of the Year Award on April 16. Doug Keene, WR-ALC vice director, accepted the award for the complex at Aviation Week’s MRO Americas Conference and Exhibition at the World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The annual awards honor aviation entities from around the world for outstanding achievement and innovation in aviation MRO. The awards are presented by Aviation Week & Space Technology in four categories; airline, independent, supplier and military.

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a Ribbon Cutting Body Blyng.

Started as a project by sisters Kin Hathcock and Pam Smith, Body Blyng offers professional face painting, and temporary body art for events and special occasions.

“We make an ordinary event into an extraordinary affair,” said Smith.  “From small birthday celebrations to church and school events, grand openings and customer appreciation days, Body Blyng can provide fun for all ages.”

Additionally, Body Blyng offers temporary glitter tatoos, temporary air brush tattoos, balloon twisting, and henna for events and parties.  They are licensed and insured.

Robins Regional Military Affairs Committee Hosts 2nd Annual Community Golf Tournament Featuring RAFB

Warner Robins, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee will host the 2nd Annual Robins Cup Golf Challenge, May 3, 2013 at Houston Lake Country Club. The purpose of the event is to have a day of fun while appreciating and further enhancing the already great relationship between Robins Air Force Base and the local community.

“The Robins Cup highlights the community’s strong relationship with Robins Air Force Base in a fun and competitive fashion,” said Morgan Law, President of the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The event will match 36 senior leaders from Robins Air Force Base with 36 community leaders competing in an 18 hole, two person scramble, match play event.

JROTC Students to Attend Georgia Premiere of Documentary

More than 300 Houston County JROTC students will attend the Georgia premiere of "Honor Flight."

According to a release, U.S. Congressman Austin Scott  in conjunction with the Warner Robins Museum of Aviation and Sonny’s BBQ bring the premiere to Georgia.

About the film:

Honor Flight is a heartwarming documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime. Volunteers race against the clock to fly thousands of WWII veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorial constructed for them in 2005, nearly 60 years after the War

Chamber Hosts 2013 Youth Leadership Robins Region Graduation

WARNER ROBINS, GA- The Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce will honor 24 outstanding high school juniors at the 2012/2013 Youth Leadership Robins Region Graduation.  Event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Museum of Aviation (Scott Theatre).

After a vigorous six month program, 24 budding leaders will be recognized and honored for completion of the Youth Leadership Robins Region Program.  The Youth Leadership RR program exposes young leaders to the key elements that form a strong and dynamic community and thus encourages their input and creativity.  It makes students aware of the many opportunities for them to remain in the Robins Region after their post-secondary education by equipping students with the tools needed for future leadership roles in our society.  Selection was based on character, interest in the community and the desire to shape idea and attitudes in others.
