Pollen Count 'High' in the Macon Area

Some mixed news for allergy sufferers:

While the tree pollen count is still high at 1420, that's down from last Wednesday's 3,600 count, according to Dr. Plaxico's Allergy and Asthma Clinic in Macon.

Weeds and grass pollen count is now in the moderate range. That count is up from last week when the weed pollen was absent and the grass count was observed as low.

A combat communications squadron here earned perfect marks during a compliance inspection, making history along the way.

The 51st Combat Communications Squadron became the first squadron in the history of Air Force Space Command to earn a 100 percent compliant and an outstanding rating on the Logistics Compliance Inspection Program.

The LCAP is used to provide leadership with an evaluation of a unit's ability to perform key logistics processes in a safe, standardized, repeatable and technically compliant manner.

The 51st CBCS excelled in dozens of inspectable areas including commander, maintenance, training and logistics programs with zero discrepancies.

Robins to Host Industry Day for Potential Solar Project

 

The Air Force is hosting an Industry Day Forum Thursday at the Museum of Aviation for potential developers interested in building a solar generation facility here.

The proposed facility would be part of Georgia Power Company’s 2013 Advanced Solar Initiative, which seeks new solar development opportunities to help increase the state’s solar generation.

The Air Force is offering 57 acres of Robins property as the potential site for the plant as part of the Air Force Enhanced Use Lease Program.

The Industry Day will feature Air Force leadership discussing the specific development opportunities; the EUL program and processes; and proposal requirements.
