Winter storm watch for Central Georgia

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of central Georgia beginning Tuesday morning until Wednesday afternoon.

A wintry mix is expected for central and southern parts of the state beginning Tuesday afternoon. Rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow are likely Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning.

Reflective belts no longer required for PT

Reflective belts are no longer required during physical training, and airmen can wear black socks and any color of athletic shoe with the PT uniform, according to uniform changes that went into effect on Friday.

While the Air Force no longer insists on the reflective belts during PT, commanders still have final say, according to the AFI signed by Brig. Gen. Eden Murrie, director of Air Force Services at the Pentagon.

On Saturday, you can bring your Christmas tree to be chipped into mulch at Flint Energies on Maple Street from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. if you want a free tree seedling, according to a news release.

If you do not want the seedling, you can drop your tree off at Maple Street anytime after Christmas.

DNR aims to increase quail population

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says they hope a partnership with numerous organizations in the state will boost the quail population.

Earlier this evening several groups signed the Georgia Bobwhite Quail Technical Team Memorandum of Agreement.

It's a mouthful, but what it means is that, DNR will provide free help to farmers or land owners that want to tailor their landscape to make it more quail friendly.
