ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – The base’s mass transit efforts have earned them state-level recognition in the Clean Air Campaign’s 2012 PACE Awards.

Awarded Wednesday at the Georgia Pacific auditorium in downtown Atlanta, the base was recognized as the top “Government Champion, Federal Employer,” in their clean air initiatives.

“I am thrilled with the award, but the real winners are the base employees who participate in mass transportation initiatives,” said John Pugh, 78th Mission Support Group deputy director.  “They are the key to embracing a positive culture shift in the use of mass transportation and encouraging clean air initiatives.”

According to the Clean Air Campaign press release, they “honored organizations across Georgia that are using innovative tools and programs to encourage clean commuting.”

The base competed in last year’s awards and received 1st runner-up among its competition.

The Clean Air Campaign is a not-for-profit organization that works with Georgia's employers, commuters and schools to encourage actions that result in less traffic congestion and better air quality.
