Air Force Reserve Band to Perform at Shirley Hill Elementary

The Band of the Air Force Reserve will perform at Shirley Hill Elementary April 30, 2013, as part of Month of the Military Child celebration. The performance will take place at 2:30 p.m.

During the program, the school will recognize its military children and families.  The Air Force Reserve Band members will present one of their last performances in the area before the band is fully deactivated in June.

The Band of the United States Air Force Reserve is the oldest band, active or reserve, assigned to the Air Force, having continued from its formation in 1941 to the present without a break in service.  As the only military band in the history of the Department of Defense to earn an Emmy nomination, the Band of the AF Reserve has entertained millions of U.S. and coalition troops around the world. The band has performed with such guest artists as Kid Rock, Chris Daughtry, Little Big Town, Lee Ann Womack, Lonestar, Diamond Rio, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Wynnona Judd, the Miracles and Lee Greenwood. Utilizing their unique bagpipe capabilities, the band has performed at the White House and the U.S. Capitol for the President of the United States, members of Congress and international heads of state.
