Minor Traffic Changes Next Week at RAFB

Next week, there will be some traffic changes at Robins Air Force Base.

According to Chrissy Miner, chief media officer for Robins Air Force Base, beginning Tuesday May 29, the commercial traffic gate will be closed to outbound traffic.

Inbound traffic will also change as the commercial search area will be located further south along Page Road.

The changes are due to safety and security reasons.

Gate 5, the Martin Luther King Street gate, will reopen to outbound traffic for selected hours: Monday-Friday 5am-8pm and Saturday 8am-6pm, but these hours are subject to change.

Inbound lane operating hours for both gates will not change.

Macon Native Dr. Ivan Allen Named Interim President of CGTC

On June 1, Central Georgia Technical College will have a new interim president: Macon native Dr. Ivan Allen. Since 2005, the Mount de Sales graduate has been president of Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins where Allen began his career in 1997 as an instructor. In 2010, MGTC was identified by Community College Week Magazine as the sixth fastest-growing two-year college in the nation with enrollments between 2,500 and 4,999 students.

This is Allen's second role as interim president, having led Southern Crescent Technical College in Griffin for six months in 2010. He replaces current CGTC President Mike Moye, who is retiring May 31 after spending 27 years in the Technical College System of Georgia, including 18 years as president over three TCSG colleges.

According to a Tuesday morning press release, the timeline for Moye's permanent replacement is still to be determined.
